Frosty mornings in Sandwich

I live on the East Kent coast in the lovely town of Sandwich, a really interesting medieval town that’s always worth a walk around.  Living so close to the sea we don’t often get a heavy frost so when you do it's well worth wrapping up warm and getting out and enjoying these conditions.  I’m not very good at getting up early and making the most of the special light that often happens just after sunrise but, in February the sunrise is quite late so no excuse to miss it this time.

I was so lucky on a couple of occasions in February when a heavy frost and beautiful mornings led to some great opportunities for photographs.  I spent most of the time down by the River Stour which was very calm and made for great reflections. During the winter months some large Weeping Willow (Salix babylonica) trees by the river have been heavily pruned They look so severe when they do that and you never think they will recover although they soon do. Their silhouettes made for some impressive photos on those frosty mornings and I'm really glad I went out earlier than I would normally.
